The Klinkhamer Green was created in 1984 by Dutch fly angler Hans van Klinken and has since earned a place in fly boxes all around the world. Renowned British fly tyer Oliver Edwards included this fly in his book Masterclass Fly Tying: A Step-by-Step Guide to the 20 Most Important Patterns, describing it as a semi-dry fly. This is because, in fishing position, the body of the fly sits just under the surface film, with only the wing visible above the water. The wing is tied from synthetic fibres or CDC, while the parachute hackle ensures buoyancy and stability.

Originally designed to imitate an emerging caddis pupa in its final stage of metamorphosis, the Klinkhamer Green can also suggest a wide range of insect nymphs trapped in the surface film. Highly effective, this fly is especially productive in spring and early summer. A true essential for trout and grayling fishing.
