Tail: Hackle fibres from a rooster cape
Body: Natural or synthetic dubbing, colour – green or olive
Ribbing 1: Flat tinsel, colour – gold or pearl
Ribbing 2: Wire 0.1 mm, colour – copper or gold
Wing: Mallard feather, colour – grey
Hackle: WHITING rooster saddle feather, colour – beige or grizzly
Description:
Imitation of an adult mayfly. Mayfly imitations are highly effective. During a mass hatch, almost all fish switch to feeding exclusively on mayflies and ignore other lures. There are frequent cases of pike striking at mayfly imitations during this period; however, landing them is problematic, as the ultra-fine leaders typically used are instantly cut by the pike’s sharp teeth.
